We're officially launching Carbon Removal Canada in November - come join us! 🚀
Join David Keith, Stacy Kauk, Mike Kelland, Grégoire Baillargeon, and yours truly to explore Canada's potential as a carbon removal powerhouse.
As some of you know I’ve been building a new non-profit for the better part of 2023 - Carbon Removal Canada. It’s an independent policy initiative focused on rapidly and responsibly scaling up carbon dioxide removal (CDR) in Canada. We believe Canada has countless strengths that position the country to be a global leader in scaling up CDR and we think what we learn on this journey can be used as a blueprint to help the world reach gigaton scale CDR by 2050.
On November 8th, we’re holding our first official launch event in Ottawa, Canada and we’d love for you to join us.
We’ve built an amazing team, brought together world-class advisors, and we’ve consulted with dozens of committed companies, non-profits, and community groups that have a stake in seeing Canada contribute to meeting global climate goals with the help of responsibly scaling up CDR.
On November 8th we’ll be ready to share the findings of our research and consultations - with an emphasis on sizing up the CDR opportunity in Canada, profiling Canada’s existing strengths, and exploring what policies can unlock Canada’s full potential. We’ll also be sharing more about ourselves as a new policy initiative and how we plan to bring together entrepreneurs, researchers, community groups, and policymakers to rapidly and responsibly scale up CDR.
We’re lucky to have David Keith, founder of Carbon Engineering and Professor at University of Chicago, deliver a keynote address followed by a panel I’ll be moderating with the following rockstars:
Stacy Kauk, P.Eng, Head of Sustainability, Shopify
Mike Kelland, CEO, Planetary Technologies
Grégoire Baillargeon, President, BMO Financial Group, Quebec and Vice Chair, BMO Capital Markets
We’re super excited about this event, and even more excited about advancing the important work that will follow the event with those in attendance. Ultimately, we believe the world needs Canada to reach gigaton scale CDR. We hope you’ll join us on November 8th to see what that future looks like and then work together with us to help build it.
